Defeating Depression - Breaking the Habit of the Thinking Addiction

Depression - The Thinking Addiction

Depression is disabling and Depression can be a killer.

Depression is an addiction, an addiction to Thinking. So, we call it The Thinking Addiction.

The good news is that once properly identified with the right approach and treatment addictions can be overcome.

Visit one of our 1 day Masterclasses "Depression - The Thinking Addiction - How to Kick the Habit" to find out more. We recommend that you bring along your partner or friend or member of your family who is closest to you and who will also be supporting you through the process, so they can learn first hand what is required. To encourage this support, the primary supporter will be provided a place at the Masterclass at half normal price.

After first going through the basics of Depression, why it is "The Thinking Addiction", how it affects us and those around us, we then spend the rest of the day on practical steps to tackle the addiction. The aim is to provide you with a complete "toolbox" to enable you to Kick the Habit of The Thinking Addiction once and for all. Your primary supporter, if you bring one along, will join in with all aspects of the day so that they have the information and a full understanding of how they can help keep you on track as well as what may need to change in both your environment and daily life to succeed.

This workshop provides a unique view of depression as “The Thinking Addiction” and explores methods to stop the addiction so that the process of re-building your life with a positive rather than negative outlook can start. It is not a Magic Bullet to suddenly lift and do away with depression, but a way to kick start the process, stopping the “Dog chasing its Tail” going around in circles, allowing us to re-access our own wisdom which has become lost in the abyss of the Thinking Addiction. You will come away with a toolbag of techniques to use and practice to stop the Thinking Addiction as well understanding what can be contributing to the addiction within your work and home environments, and what to do about it.

There are 5 main sections to this workshop:

  • Who are the Regulars at the Black Dog Inn?
A look at the traits and characteristics of those with “The Thinking Addiction” with a brief analysis of why these traits can lead to depression.
  • Why the Thinking Addiction?
In this section we look at why we call it the Thinking Addiction, what can start it off, and what feeds it.
  • Why can’t I just be Happy?
A brief visit to personal leadership, what motivates us, where happiness comes from and why it can elude us.
  • Kicking the Habit
We cannot begin to tackle the issues underlying the depression until we stop the Thinking Addiction, until we stop the “Dog chasing its Tail”. How do you think your way out of a problem of thinking too much? No wonder the usual result is that one ends up going round and round faster and faster in ever decreasing circles down the slippery spiral into the abyss. Here we go through the 4 main aspects on how to Kick the Habit.
  • The Next Steps
Here we look at practical steps on completing the process with the aim of overcoming depression for good.
